About The Artwork

The Fataraat (Phases) series, comprised of mixed media works, showcases Al Muftah’s practice in an abstract style that serves as an extension of her research in conceptual documentation. Here, her collage studies expand into large-scale abstractions that collect fragments of thoughts from a different place and time. Fataraat collectively represents an evolution of Al Muftah’s artist’s books that symbolize imprinted recollections on the subconscious mind. Combining echoes in time indexed by personal and collective memory - Fataraat tackles the erosion of intimate moments in today’s hyper developing world.
