+'This artwork speaks of the untruth claimed by the Western narrative to justify the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 & the state sponsored repression which have shaped and reshaped the country; for “Oil”.
Possession of WMDs was cited by the US as the primary motivation instigating the War in Iraq, which was later reported by the US to be a “mistake”. The artwork “Mess-take” is domesticated by symbols of war & greed against indigenous symbols of the land: flowers, fruit, rivers of Tigris & Euphrates, Ishtar gate, palm trees. The landscape represents the land as a chess board where games of war were played by Western powers, and the stitching on the canvas intends to seam and repair the land torn apart by war.'
