+The Kaleidoscope series takes a softer approach to the collage method. Rather than hard cuts of images and subjects, typical to the traditional format of collage, a jumble of imagery is carefully composed and blended together through soft flowing transitions. At a distance, the final product is something more abstract maintaining a dreamlike quality that hints to a narrative - inviting the viewer to visually travel in and out of the different layers and dimensions. As the viewer spends more time focused on certain areas of the work different details start to emerge. Later works in the series begin to use the soft kaleidoscopic image as a background that flows into a more tangible narrative. Drove All Night, for example, uses a kaleidoscopic backdrop for the sky but in the foreground we find a more direct narrative with a surrealist application of bright lights and images to tell the story.
