Artist’s Story

Born in Lvov, Ukraine, M'hammed Kilito grew up in Rabat and moved to Canada in 2001 / He studied Political Science at the University of Ottawa and Photography at the Ottawa School of Art / Project coordinator and researcher at the Social Planning Council of Ottawa in 2010, then head of the photo and video department at the Montreal advertising agency Ressac (2013-2015), he decided in 2015 to devote himself exclusively to photography and moved back for this purpose to Morocco / M'hammed focuses on the small details of every day life that document a contemporary Morocco / These everyday scenes and fragments open the field to socio-political questions such as migration,identity, social determinism or territory / His photographs, mostly in square format, reflect a humanist look that the photographer takes on the reality that surrounds and fascinates him/ M'hammed has participated in numerous exhibitions in various places such as the French Institute (Rabat), Rétine argentique (Marseille), the Foundation Alliances (Casablanca), the Fotofilmic gallery (Vancouver), the 18th(Marrakech), the Offprint London Artbook Fair in the Tate Modern (London), the National Library (Rabat), Les Nuits photographiques d'Essaouira or the Visual Voice Gallery (Montreal) / The photographer's work has been published in several newspapers and magazines such as The Washington Post, Off The Wall, El Pais, Jeune Afrique, Vumagazine, Diptyk, L'Express, AfriqueMagazine, Huffpost and Telquel/
