Artist’s Story

Originally from Togo, Kossi Seshie began to paint intuitively on the ground, everywhere / From his childhood, expression through drawing became a necessity and then naturally gave way to painting / He forms, listens to his instinct and gives free rein to his sensitivity /
Abstraction as a pictorial form allows him to translate in a spiritual, mysterious and often unexpected way / Nature and traditions are his favorite themes / Travelling and living between Togo, Benin, Ghana, Mali, Burkina Faso and Senegal, Kossi occupies a considerable place in the world of visual art in West Africa / He has proven himself through individual exhibitions at the French Institute in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Bamako (Mali) among others /
Kossi has represented Togo at various cultural events and his works are in the private and public collections in the world /

Artist Statement

Living in a world going from day to day to collapse, Kossi Seshie is no different from initiatives that can unite a little bit the tangled minds lost in capitalism, individualism, in short division.
Every day that sees the sun rise is a moment of meditation, reflection for the artist.
Hating hypocrisy, the corruption facing the society in wich he lives, he no longer knows who to turn to. Confidence in these unpredictable people left him. He feeds his daily life with hope, perseverance, courage and dreams to which he gives shape by working, spreading webs to give birth to images that cross his mind, abstract designs that hide a lot of messages.
The artist Kossi Seshie always makes use of the legacies bequeathed by our ancestors and exhorts the generation to which he belongs to, an immediate awareness. That of reconnecting with our roots, our sources because it is at the end of the old rope that we weave the new one.
