Artist’s Story

Born on January 1, 1966 in a small village next to the city of Essaouira in Morocco, the self-taught artist Fatiha Lahmeur spent the first years of her life in the countryside, bathed in nature and picturesque landscapes, cultivating the love of colors / Very early, she chooses art as a means of expression / The city of Salé, where she moved with her family at the age of 6, will see her artistic vocation grow and her talent assert itself /

Fatiha first learns about sewing and embroidery in a foyer, and transposes her artistic ideas into carpet weaving, transforming them into real paintings / Persevering in this way, she creates a carpet weaving factory, before devoting herself to embroidery / The year 2005 marks her beginnings in drawing on cardboard, and then moves on to canvas / The latter will remain the support on which Fatiha will have liberated all her creativity, transcending all the laws of colors and making her brush her principal means of expression / Thus, she follows the lineage of her mother, brother and sister, a family of talented artists who all have chosen painting as a means of expression / Her mother would make colors out of natural flowers to create her paintings /
Today, Fatiha's work remains the authentic reflection of her aspirations, her vision of life and her perspective of the world, affirming her great creativity and talent /
