Adnan Samman
b. 1993, Syria

Adnan Samman is a Syrian mixed media artist and content creator now based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. His work draws influence from pop art, and combines it with Middle Eastern and North African themes, mostly including Arabic text. Adnan’s work has highlighted a wide range of topics such as armed conflicts, feminism and urban environment. Three of his works are now in the collection of the Oriental Museum in Durham, UK.

In late 2018, Adnan founded the digital archive Syria Before 2011, where he curates and presents rare, sometimes never seen before, photos of Syria, mostly taken by foreign travellers who passed by the country before the beginning of the civil war in 2011.
